CNC 5-AXIS Machining

CNC 5-axis machining uses a tool which moves in five different directions corresponding to the 3 linear X, Y and Z axes, plus two additional axes (A and B) around which the milling tool rotates.

This allows a part to be milled all directions and can be worked from five sides in a single operation.

This technique is extremely suitable for deeper parts made from harder materials, and it offers a higher degree of precision due to using shorter machining tools.

The 4th axis is around the A-axis, which rotates around the Z-axis (also used in 4-axis machining). The 5th axis is around the B-axis, which rotates around the Y-axis. This allows for higher precision and speed in production. The CNC 5-axis process creates very complex parts, such as those used in aerospace applications.
